Check out the official trailer for the new Netflix limited series based on the life of legendary American fashion designer, Roy Halston Frowick, who was simply known around the world as HALSTON.
The mini-series, which is executive produced by Emmy-winning mega-producer Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story, Pose), stars Ewan McGregor in the titular role.
Set in the late 1970s and early 80s in New York City, the Netflix drama follows Halston (McGregor) as he rises to wealth and fame as one of the world’s premier fashion designers during the drug-fueled era of discotheques and Studio 54.
Broadway singer/actress Krysta Rodriguez (Trial & Error, Daybreak) co-stars in the Netflix drama. She is portraying a young Liza Minnelli. Meanwhile, the supporting cast also includes Rebecca Davan who plays ’70s Italian fashion model and jewelry designer Elsa Peretti. Bill Pullman also co-stars as ’70s American businessman David Mahoney. Rounding out the cast are Vera Farmiga, David Pittu, and Rory Culkin.
Directed by acclaimed television producer-director Daniel Minahan (Game of Thrones, Deadwood: The Movie, The Assassination of Gianni Versace), the mini-series is created by Sharr White (The Affair, Generation).
“HALSTON” is premiering on May 14th, only on Netflix.
The limited series HALSTON follows the legendary fashion designer (Ewan McGregor), as he leverages his single, invented name into a worldwide fashion empire that’s synonymous with luxury, sex, status, and fame, literally defining the era he lives in, 1970’s and ’80s New York — until a hostile takeover forces him to battle for control of his most precious asset… the name Halston itself.
